What is the NDIS meal preparation line item?

The line items 01_022_0120_1_1 and 01_023_0120_1_1 — Preparation and Delivery of Meals sit under Core Supports (Assistance with Daily Life). If it’s in your plan, you may be eligible for co-funded meal delivery through a registered provider like Able Foods.

Agency vs plan-managed vs self-managed

Agency-managed participants must use a registered provider. Plan-managed and self-managed participants have more flexibility, but using a registered provider gives you extra protections and compliance assurance.

What’s included in the NDIS meal subsidy?

The NDIS covers the cost of meal preparation and delivery. Participants pay a co-payment for the ingredient component of each meal. This split is clearly shown on every Able Foods invoice.

Can my support coordinator refer me?

Yes. Support coordinators can submit a referral through our online form. We handle eligibility checks and NDIS compliance, and keep the coordinator informed throughout the process.

If meal preparation and delivery isn’t listed in your current plan, you can request it be added at your next plan meeting. We can help you prepare documentation to support this request.

Texture-modified meals and IDDSI guidelines

Able Foods offers texture-modified meals at IDDSI levels 4 and 5, designed for participants who need Pureed or Minced & Moist options. These are available at the same $2 co-pay entry point as standard meals.

Does Able Foods work with plan managers and support coordinators?

Yes. We work directly with plan managers to confirm NDIS funding for meals and process NDIS-compliant invoicing. Support coordinators can refer participants via our online form. We handle all eligibility checks and compliance, and keep you updated throughout.

Are there lock-in contracts or cancellation fees?

No. There are no lock-in contracts and no cancellation fees. You can adjust your meal plan, pause, or cancel at any time, as long as you let us know before our weekly cut-off (Wednesdays 5pm, Sydney time).

Do you offer texture-modified meals and vegetarian or vegan options in Sydney?

Yes. We offer texture-modified meals at IDDSI levels 4 and 5, as well as a full range of vegetarian options and vegan options. All meals are nutritionally balanced, chef-prepared, and available at the same affordable co-payment as our standard range.
